As a child growing up in a coastal city in China, my mother would always prepare delicious seafood and Asian cuisine for me and my family. As a little girl, I believed that cooking and serving food was the greatest way to bring happiness and fulfillment to others.

At the age of 16, I immigrated to the USA. In my second year of graduate school at Virginia Tech, I decided to drop out to pursue my dream of owning a restaurant. Fortunately, I discovered that Sake House, a 12-year well-established Japanese restaurant in Blacksburg, was up for sale, which later transformed into Ocean Samurai.

All the team members at Ocean Samurai are incredibly supportive and understanding, especially towards a brand-new restaurant owner. Thanks to the support of townies, we will continue to warmly welcome every customer with a smile, serve authentic Japanese cuisine with pride, and bid you a happy farewell.
